Sustainability at PGE

Like our customers, we call Oregon home. For more than 125 years, we've powered our customers' potential with safe, reliable electric service in a sustainable manner.

At PGE, know we have a responsibility to consider the long-term impacts of our decisions in three key areas: people, planet and performance. This approach keeps us focused on helping our communities succeed, protecting our natural resources and building sustainability into the choices we make every day.

Check out our latest Sustainability Report to learn more about our journey, including the challenges and opportunities of building a more sustainable, cleaner energy future.

Sustainability at the Diversity Summit

  • The Oregon Convention Center is LEED Platinum Certified and has made substantial efforts to decrease their through footprint in key target areas
  • OCC is the first Convention Center to achieve Level Four ASTM Standard certification
  • Tri-bin waste stations for compost, recycling and landfill waste are placed throughout the venue
  • Durable china and serving-ware is used to minimize waste
  • Catering menus are chosen with a preference for local and sustainable products

Registration, Programming & Communication

  • Registration process utilizes a 100 percent paperless ticket system
  • Event promotion primarily uses online methods
  • Badge holders are compostable, made from corn-starch and reused when possible
  • Official conference materials are printed using vegetable based inks on recycled materials

  • The OCC was selected to host the Diversity Summit because of its proximity to public transportation
  • A post-event survey will be sent in the few weeks following the Diversity Summit. In the survey, attendees will be asked if they walked, biked or traveled by mass transit to the event. For those who drove, PGE will sum up the total miles driven and purchase the equivalent of a U.S. Carbon Offset. These offsets directly support a wide range of innovative carbon reduction projects throughout the United States.
